Jack Jia

Executive Chairman

Jack is a founder and Executive Chairman of Baynote, Inc. For eight years, he was SVP & CTO of Interwoven Inc. with executive responsibilities in engineering, products, marketing, strategy and vision. Prior to Interwoven, he was a founder and CEO of V-max America. Jack led operating systems and applications development at SGI, Sun Microsystems, Stratus and NASA for over a decade. He is a frequent speaker at major conferences and has appeared on television programs in several countries. He is a contributing author in "XML Handbook, the 4th Edition", "Online! The Book", "Content Management Bible", and writes regularly about key technology issues and trends. He is a board advisor for Santa Clara University, and the president of HYSTA, a premier non-profit organization for promoting entrepreneurship.

Mike Backlund

President and CEO

Mike Backlund brings over 20 years of executive management experience in software and the technology industry to Baynote. Before taking the helm as president and CEO, Mike was previously responsible for the overall leadership of Baynote's worldwide sales including direct, channel and alliances. Prior to Baynote, Mike was Chief Executive Officer of Quorum Technologies, Inc. Mike served as Senior Vice President, Global Sales for SpikeSource, an open source software company. Mike is also the former CEO of Emagia, a financial software company. As Sr. Vice President of Worlwide Field Operations at Interwoven, Mike was instrumental in the company’s successful IPO, driving annual revenue from less than a million dollars a year to over 200 million dollars per annum in 3 years. Earlier, Mike held senior management positions at Computer Associates and Pacific Telesis Group. Mike has a BA and MA in Economics from University of Southern CA, USC.

Scott Brave, Ph.D

Chief Technology Officer

Scott is a founder and CTO of Baynote, Inc. Prior to Baynote, he was a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University and served as lab manager for the CHIMe (Communication between Humans and Interactive Media) Lab. Scott is an inventor of six patents and co-author of over 25 publications in the areas of human-computer interaction and artificial intelligence. Scott is also an Editor of the "International Journal of Human-Computer Studies" (Amsterdam: Elsevier) and co-author of "Wired for speech: How voice activates and advances the human-computer relationship" (Cambridge, MA: MIT Press). Scott received his Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction, and B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford University, and his Master's from the MIT Media Lab.

Aravind Balakrishnan

Vice President of Engineering

Aravind has 20 years of broad experience in the software and web technology development, having held executive and management positions in companies such as Corio, Interwoven, Oracle and Lucent. In Corio, as a senior member of Engineering, Aravind managed the scalability and automation of Corio Operations. At Interwoven as vice president of engineering, Aravind ran the web content management division, leading the Interwoven flagship product TeamSite. At Oracle, Aravind was one of the key persons that developed the first version of the Enterprise Manager. Aravind holds a Bachelor's degree from BITS, Pilani, India.

Carlos Carvajal

Sr. Director of Marketing

Carlos joins Baynote with over 17 years experience in enterprise software with a strong emphasis on product management and marketing. Prior to Baynote, Carlos spent nearly ten years at Vignette Corporation in key management roles spanning product strategy, product management and analyst relations. He was responsible for leading many of Vignette's key product lines including personalization, web analytics, social media and Vignette's flagship web content management business. Carlos is responsible for leading Baynote's worldwide marketing function, including market strategy, corporate communications, demand generation, product marketing and customer success programs.

Patrick Finn

Vice President of Alliances

Pat has over twenty years of sales and alliance management experience within the enterprise software and information technology industry. At Baynote, Pat is responsible for developing and managing software and services partnerships that add value for Baynote customers. Most recently Pat was the Vice President of Alliances at Emptoris, a leader in supply and contract management software solutions, where he was responsible for building and managing the global alliances organization that included partnerships with Accenture, IBM, EMC, Huron, SciQuest, and TriZetto. Previously, he held numerous sales and alliance management positions at Interwoven, Accenture and IBM. Pat received a BA in Economics from UCLA and an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.

Bill Hustad

Vice President of Customers

Bill is enthusiastically customer focused, bringing over 10 years experience of implementing, delivering and supporting the full software lifecycle, both in the US and Europe. Most recently, Bill was VP of Marketing and Sales at Nahava Inc., enabling success for customers like FedEx, TD Bank and Kaiser Permanente. For over 5 years, Bill held various senior positions at Interwoven for consulting, services and product management. Prior, Bill served in various leadership roles creating and delivering web based solutions. Bill is a military veteran who was one of four hand-selected US Marines to directly serve the President of the United States. Bill studied architecture at the University of Arkansas and holds top-secret and PRP clearances.
