Shining in the employee spotlight this month is our very own Nitila Patel. With a friendly smile and pleasant demeanor (not to mention a great fashion sense), Nitila is eager to design anything from t-shirts to website pages to business cards. She’s our go-to for both product and marketing design and the other day she took a few minutes to tell us about her life at Baynote.
What’s your name and job title at Baynote?
Nitila Patel, User Interface Designer
How long have you been here?
Since March of 2011
When you were a kid, what profession did you think you would pursue?
I wanted to be a flight attendant and then a fashion designer.
What does a typical day at Baynote look like for you?
I start my day by checking emails and then go down my list of things to do. We plan pretty well ahead and have a team meeting every week where each of us talks about the things we have accomplished and the projects we will finish that week. I support both marketing and the product development groups, so I usually try to accommodate everyone’s requests.
Tell us how your past experience made you the right fit for Baynote:
I have always worked in a start-up environment where I wore multiple hats. At Baynote, I support several departments from HR to product and marketing. That keeps it really fun and exciting for me. You get to learn a lot that way.
Tell us a little about your education and professional background:
My first degree, believe it or not, is a BA in Accounting. I was always passionate about design and wanted to change to that field. I moved to the United States in 1997 for school. I went to the Academy of Art in San Francisco and completed my BFA in Computer Arts. As soon as I graduated, I got a job with a start-up company. I did various freelance projects alongside my full-time job.
In your opinion, what sets Baynote apart from competitors?
We have an amazing team!
It’s Saturday. Where can we find you?
I go up to San Francisco pretty much every weekend..to meet friends or just for a nice dinner.
